A look back in time with this nostalgic performance from a live 1940’s radio show. A perfect holiday show!
The 1940s radio show
Live radio broadcast of “The Mutual Manhattan Variety Cavalcade” from the Algonquin Hall of the Astor Hotel on December 21, 1942. Experience a time when the world was at war and pop music meant “Strike Up the Band “and” Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. “The harassed station manager faces a drunk singer, a delivery boy wants a chance in front of the microphone, the second banana taxi driver dreams of a singer’s ballad and the trumpeter chooses a plane gun over Glenn Miller.
