The Imo State Police Command has questioned the reported arrest of a staff member of Boss FM Radio in the state, Professor Jachimike Adiele.
The command’s public relations officer, Michael Abattam, responded to the report in a statement he issued on Saturday.
Abattam said contrary to the abduction report, it was officers from the Police Zone Command, Owerri, who arrested Adiele.
He said Boss FM staff skipped bail after they defaulted on an agreement he made with a lady over a N1.2 million debt.
Abattam said in the statement, “The attention of Imo State Police Command was drawn to a report circulating on 6/11/2022 at approximately 9:40 a.m., a Professor Jachimike Adiele, a member of the Boss FM Radio staff, was abducted by an unknown person. people. The news is false as he was never abducted, rather he was arrested by police officers from Owerri Police District Command in lmo state.
“The facts are that during the month of March 2022 a lady reported a case of fraud against Professor Jachimike Adiele to Owerri Police Zone Command alleging that the said Professor had collected the sum of one million two hundred thousand naira. from her with the promise to give her a shop at the Douglas Market. But, after a few months she found out there was no shop and asked for money but couldn’t get it hence her report.
“Based on the complaint, Professor Jachimike Adiele was invited. After his statement, the Zone Commander released him on bail due to his status in society. And he promised to return the money to the lady on 1/4/2022 but never did rather he skipped bail.When all efforts to reach him were unsuccessful bail was asked and he claimed he didn’t know where where the suspect was and pleaded for time to find him.
“The odds were stacked against him today 11/6/2022 at around 0940 hrs when the surety got information that he was in the studio presenting a program and alerted the police. On arrival , the police were professional, they never went to the station rather, they waited for him to finish his presentation of the program and go home when he was arrested at the station. He has since been released and to the end of the investigation, he will be brought to justice.
