Attack on Radio Ada: two radio staff and visitors taken hostage – Management

Radio Ada management revealed that in the devastation that followed the attack on the radio station by 8 marauding men, two of their employees and visitors to the station were held hostage.

The armed assailants stormed the station around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 13, broke through the gate and assaulted staff members and visitors present.

Radio Ada program and external communications manager Julius Odoi, who confirmed the incident, said: “The studio presenter closed the door when he realized the thugs were entering. , but they forced their way through and started slapping him. ”

They then vandalized the office space; destroy on-air studio equipment and furniture while keeping hostages at gunpoint.

According to management, the attack was reported to Big Ada Police for further investigation.

The incident was also reported to the National Media Commission.

Meanwhile, the presenter who was assaulted has since been sent to Ada East District Hospital for treatment.

Management further mentioned that following the attack, the radio station will be closed for a few days, starting Friday, January 14, to allow it to examine and repair the damage caused.

“This announcement is made to ensure that the facts of the attack are reported accurately and in a timely manner. This announcement, interspersed with music, will be the only broadcast Radio Ada will do today,” the station said.

Radio Ada management said it remained unfazed by the attack and would continue “to inform and give voice to the Dangme community, especially those less heard”.
