Waatea correspondent Jodi Ihaka for the first time word has appeared on the team’s uniform and signage – and it’s not a sponsor.

This is Aotearoa, sitting on New Zealand.

She says it elevates the standard black stripe, which Australian lugers have described as as exciting as a two-day lamington.

“Something that has a bit more interest and kaha. As we all know, any Maori designer could sum up everything we are as people of Aotearoa. Now in the future we will always do that. Athletes love it,” says Ms. Ihaka.
