All local radio staff at risk of being fired Prolific North

Amid the BBC’s ongoing local radio overhaul, two Radio Humberside reporters and presenters claimed that all staff at the company’s local radio station were being made redundant.

Radio Humberside afternoon show presenter and senior reporter Andy Comfort added that any existing presenter roles were also to be closed, with presenters forced to reapply for their jobs.

Unsurprisingly, Comfort describes himself and his colleagues as “astounded and overwhelmed.” Comfort Radio Humberside colleague Andy Burns, host of sports program The Burnsy show, also confirmed the threat of dismissal.

Radio Humberside is believed to be among the first stations to receive a call from staff on the ongoing developments yesterday, with further calls planned across the country today and tomorrow.

Prolific North has approached the BBC for comment.
